COTEC was founded in 2026 as Grupo Cobian's specialized technical answer to a Caribbean-market reality: high-performance liquid systems deserve their own team, their own discipline, and their own brand.

COTEC is led by three partners with international training and direct operating experience in the markets we serve.
Sebastián Martino
Director of Operations
Business Administration, Bryant University. Direct track record in hotel roof waterproofing across Jamaica, including projects for Hyatt, Iberostar, and Secrets. Leads COTEC's technical operation.
Javier Herrera
Director of Finance and Sales
Business Administration with a Finance concentration, Bryant University, and an M.S. in Financial Mathematics from Babson College. Leads COTEC's financial and commercial strategy.
The thesis
Why COTEC exists
For decades, waterproofing in the Caribbean has leaned on traditional systems: asphaltic sheets, prefabricated membranes, hand-applied products. They work. But they are a legacy category, with real limits in durability, installation time, and geometric complexity.
Pure polyurea and elastomeric polyurethane are a different proposition. They are continuous, seamless membranes, hot-sprayed at high pressure, with up to 25 years of certified service life under the European ETA standard. Not an incremental improvement — a different category.
That difference deserves its own structure: a specialized technical team, 280-bar spray rigs, engineering supervision, and certification by system. That is COTEC.

How we work
Three steps. One discipline

Technical assessment
Every application starts with a site visit. We evaluate the substrate, ambient conditions, intended use, and budget before proposing a system.
- 02
Specification
We deliver a written technical proposal — selected system, thicknesses, applicable certifications, and warranty. We don't sell before we specify.
- 03
Execution and warranty
We apply with certified equipment and engineering supervision. We follow the project with a maintenance plan and post-installation inspections.
